Slowly I turn...step by step...
SLOWLY I TURN... STEP BY STEP...
Not a lot of time lately for journal writing, so just thought I'd keep you apprised of the progress being made with the kitchen renovation at Crow Cottage.
Today is the day the two new double-hung windows will be installed. We are, in fact, awaiting Matt the carpenter, at this very moment. All is prepared for him. Paul will be his assistant.
A picture is worth a thousand words, so they say, so here is the old kitchen taken before the rip out:
Notice how the stove/oven sticks out into the center portion of the room? We are going to move that to the right, back up against that outer wall...so the kitchen will be one long open room.
Here is the same view after Paul pulled down the cabinets:
Of course, kitchen cabinets hold a multitude of objects, some usable, some only just being discovered for the first time since they went in there 16 years ago! I have been instructed to go thru all this paraphernalia and throw out any unnecessaries!

So that's the status of things here so far. Just now, Matt came in and the guys are at it. Gotta run...it's construction time!
ADDENDUM TO ABOVE:
Matt the carpenter has just left.
We have windows that are a tad too large! So Matt has gone off to order two more smaller sized windows, and we'll have to schedule another day to install them! Oh my!
Luckily, though, we have 4 old windows in this cottage that need replacement also, and the 2 windows that we just bought will fit them perfectly..so we don't have to return them. Down the road they will be our two new bathroom windows! So that's one thing good!
We must learn to bend with the wind like a willow!
