Say Goodnight, Gracie...
The end of a year, today is.
Not sure whether to be sad to see it go (the Red Sox DID win the world series during it), or to give it a swift kick in the butt out the door.
So much happend this year, it's just too much to recount. Remembering the joy of our home team winning the World Series will be with us forever. It may never happen again, but we had it at least for this once.
We went from planning no holiday in England next year, to deciding to go and getting all excited, to cancelling our trip again due to unexpected financial obligations. What else is new?
I am beginning to think that we just can't really afford to live in this house, if all were tolled. We juggle our monies, and seem to handle things, but if one big system fails, we are up the creek without the paddle.
We need a new heating system, and that will happen in the Spring, unless the stop-gap repair we just had on it fails before then!
And since we are going to replace the heating system, I want to have central air added at the same time... might as well!
There goes our trip to England, for another year at the very least.
So 2004 has come and almost gone now, and I'm just about ready, I think, to say sayonara to her, and to welcome in 2005 with open arms. If Mother Nature would get her act together and stop waging war on our Earth, we'd all be a little more appreciative, I believe. It seems that all corners of the world are falling victim to her wrath, and I'm starting to think that "Noah's Ark" is happening all over again, in modern terms, to our planet.
Things are turning, changing, spinning crookedly, it seems. We can't go back, so out the door goes 2004 tonight. Say goodnight to her, Gracie.
