You Are Invited...

YOU ARE INVITED....

To a "Pity Party"!

How nice for you! If you have been to Pity Parties before, and just know you are not going to enjoy it, then you may want to just turn around and go back out the door - because that's what this is today.

It all began last night. We got a call from Paul's dad saying they could not get rid of a huge amount of family room bamboo furniture (they are downsizing and moving into a one-bedroom assisted living facility), so sometime within the next 3 days, Paul has to find a way to drive up to Maine and get all that furniture down to his sister's house, who has graciously consented to take it off their hands - although her house is full now and I have no idea where it will go there...maybe the good old basement!

But Paul needs to work every day, he can't take a day off as long as the weather will allow him to get out lobstering, because he is trying to pay down a loan at the bank, blah-blah-blah....

So he goes to bed last night worrying about how he will accomplish all this with his precious little spare time over the weekend. He goes off to sleep early because he's been to Maine several times this week already helping move "stuff" down here...and he's been fishing all day every day, and he's completely zonkered! I gave him the night off last night from doing late night dog-walkies so he could get to sleep early, which he did.

When his alarm went off (which is set for 4:30 every morning) he got up, cleaned up as usual, came down, got his breakfast stuff all out and ready, got the dogs outside and did their early morning walkies, and came back in...only to look around, in the still pitch-black house, at all the digital clocks blaring at him, that were all saying 3:00 a.m.!!!

What?

Couldn't be a power outage...some of the clocks are battery operated!

He finally realizes, 30 minutes into all this, that he must have screwed up his alarm, and it had gone off at 2:30 a.m. instead of 4:30.

Meanwhile, the dogs are wondering silently "what the hey?" - I'm sure! But loving the attention, they wouldn't say anything like "Hey, Paul! It's only 2:30 for gawd's sake!" - they are polite that way!

So he put everything away and went back to bed... only to screw up the alarm again and it never went off... He awoke at 5 a.m. when the first light started coming in the window... and hurried thru his morning routine to get out to the boat and go lobstering.

All except for one little, but important thing...

His boat wouldn't start.

He thinks it's either the "starter" or the "alternater". So home he came looking for a spare of either of those items.

After a rummage around the basement, he finally realizes he has neither a spare starter nor a spare alternater! So now he has to go to the marine place and have them rebuild the old non-working ones!

I would jump in and offer to help today with the moving of furniture, however, I have an especially large load of typing upstairs waiting to be done, so that has to be my first priority. Work before pleasure!

And that is where I'm going right now... the rest will have to play out in its own time and manner.

I will be glad to see the back end of August... at least the temperature has cooled to a bearable degree now, and I don't have to shut the house up to run the A/C's today. One good thing.

I wonder if Laura Bush ever has days like these?

Now aren't you glad you came to my Pity Party?

Pass the cheeseballs, please.

Cheers,

Bex
