crowbelle's Diaryland Diary ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Storm Damage Update Storm Damage Update Storm damage can come in many forms - flooding - trees falling - power lost - impassable streets from snow - all of which this current storm is giving us for Christmas this year. But one more damage item for us, and for many of our friends, is loss of lobster gear. Back in 1991 and again in 1993, Paul lost a significant amount of his gear (i.e. lobster traps, and all accoutrements) to the sea during some heavy storms. This recent snowstorm of December 5th thru 7th was not kind to him in that regard. Yesterday, Wednesday, was the first day he could get out to "check his traps" - what there was left of them. He has over 400 lobster traps in the water, and he came home yesterday saying that if he has half of them left, he will feel lucky. So once again, we will need to do the equity loan thing - borrowing money to replace over 200 lobster traps which generally cost in the range of $30 to $40 each - and then all the work entailed to put those traps together, get the buoys ready, get the brick in them, get the "heads" knit and installed in them, etc. Paul has his work cut out for him this Winter, but unfortunately, it's work that HE has to pay FOR, not work that will pay HIM! Me? My back is screaming in pain, only abates after taking Advil which thankfully has allowed me to still work during the day, but the nights are hell - right now it's 5:30 a.m. and I'm waiting for the Advil to kick in to allow me to go upstairs and type all day. If anyone out there has any home remedies/exercises that alleviate sciatic pain, extreme sciatic pain, please let me know. I have a book ordered from Amazon.com with some healing methods to learn.
