Getting Over the Bump in the Road

Getting over the bump in the road.

Having medical tests is certainly a pain in the butt, especially when it's a colonoscopy, as I'm sure many of you know by now. It's just not something one looks forward to having on a regular basis. But, nevertheless, doctors seem to want their patients to have them on a somewhat regular basis these days, so being a good patient, my Paul went in today to have his very first colonoscopy.

He'd gone thru the lesser of the tests called a sigmoidoscopy about five years ago, but that one was nothing quite as drastic as the dreaded colonoscopy. He's been prepping his body for this exam since Sunday morning, with no solid food for almost two days now.

Then he had to drink that Phosphosoda with some gingerale last night at 5 p.m.,and wait... then drink the second bottle of it again at 9 p.m. and wait again, but he didn't have to wait long.

To spare you the details, he didn't get much sleep all night long.

He did go out lobstering yesterday for most of the day, and again this morning, even after not having had any solid food since Saturday night. He's a worker-bee...in the true sense of the word.

So, I've just picked him up at the hospital after his colonoscopy. The techs there gave him a copy of the serial images which I have successfully scanned and am including here for anyone who is interested... If you are a little squeamish, you may want to just stop reading here... and press your "back" button, to get you outta here, but for all you brave souls who may want to see what this procedure actually looks like...feast your eyes!
(He had one tiny little polyp in there, that the doctor snagged and eliminated).

(Picture is gone, I deleted it, no sense in grossing everyone out any longer!)

Me? I'm not doing this for any money, no way Jose! I'd have to be unconscious for them to get me on that table!

Cheers,

Bex
