Quick Update on Things

Just a Quick Update on Things...

First, I forgot to tell you - a week ago we got a call from Paul's endocrinologist, Dr. K, saying that his "whole body scan" showed no thyroid cancer cells left. It was the first time I'd seen Paul really give a big, ear-to-ear smile in a long time.

He still has to go back for regular check-ups. But at least that news was good.

You may all have seen that our corner of the planet (northeast U.S.) just received about 12+ inches of rain last weekend. Lots of the flooding that ensued was in Salem as well as in all the surrounding towns near here, too. Peabody, which is below sea level, really got hit bad and had a lot of water damage. There are rivers all over New England now that are full to overflowing, and we are expecting more rain tonight and tomorrow. We've had two days now of sunny weather, which has been a godsend, after about 2 weeks of non-stop dark gray rain-filled days.

Our new dog, Emma, was beginning to wonder just what kind of climate she had landed in, coming from the southern, much warmer state of Tennessee before moving up here. But today, she saw the sun and has been outside a lot with Whitby soaking up those rays on their furs.

Our lawn must have grown 4 inches in the past week with all the rain. I talked Paul into cutting it tonight (just the front section) as I am still dealing with a very lame leg, and last time I did the mowing, I suffered for many days afterwards.

I have one more day of typing to get thru, and then I am on vacation for a whole glorious week. I have no big plans. No trip to England, sadly to say. Paul will be working as usual. But I need the down-time really badly... so I'm just going to rest my fingers and do some small projects around the house.

Forgot to mention, Paul lost his rowboat (otherwise known as the "deathtrap") in the rainstorm. It must have filled up with water and broken loose, because it was located down harbor on a little beach next to a townhouse. Paul had to come home and get his saw, and go back and cut it up into pieces in order to get the thing off the beach and out thru the driveway and into the back of his truck. The trashmen came today to haul it away. He is obtaining a "new" rowboat from his cousin who runs a local boatyard, but he hasn't got it yet. So he's had to borrow one from his friend, Bill. I guess he's just thankful it was only the rowboat, and not his lobster boat - he's been there and done that in a storm about 15 years ago, and he had to start all over again with a new boat (which was not cheap!).

Well, that's all the news from Lake Crowbegone. Have a good weekend, friends. Try to stay high and dry, and out of trouble.

Cheers,

Bex
